The Weave
A downloadable game
The Weave is a new retro game for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis.
The game is based on the classic graphic adventure Loom, released in 1990 by Lucasfilm Games (later known as LucasArts). It takes place a hundred years after the ending of the original game.
The game is in the early stages of development. Currently, the focus is on the game engine, using placeholder graphics that will later be hand-edited pixel by pixel.
As in Loom we aim for an interesting story, well-written characters, and a game you can finish and enjoy in a weekend -no cat-like reflexes needed-.
A first playable version of the first act, with texts in English and Spanish, is expected to be published (hopefully) throughout 2025. The game will be free, and the source code will be available on GitHub.
Features will include:
- Cinematic cutscenes with English and Spanish dialogues.
- Puzzle solving with magic spells and interactable objects.
- Many magic patterns with musical notes you will unlock during the adventure.
- Numerous new characters, guilds and locations.
- Spells combat with various enemies.
- Game engine created from scratch in C language using the SGDK development kit
- Tech demo now available !

Tech demo has been tested in both software emulators and a real Megadrive console. Any emulator would do, but I recomend GENS, as that's the one I'm using.
The demo includes approximately five to ten minutes of gameplay across three different stages: a corridor with interactable objects, a cutscene, and a combat scenario with enemies. Each stage is designed to test one or more mechanics and does not represent the final gameplay of the game. You should expect bugs and confusing mechanics, especially during the spell fight.
